Serafina & Cameron- Vintage Style With A Modern Twist

Serafina & Cameron were wed Sunday September 2nd at the newish local venue- 1927 Events.  The couple had been together 10 years and they were ready to have a festive wedding to celebrate.  Their wedding color palate was inspired by 1950's colors of aqua, yellow, mint with touches of grey.  We created several accents to bring in their colors throughout the space.  We started with the welcome table.  We stitched up a table runner with a retro fabric in shades of yellow.  We also sourced great vintage vases from Vintage Ambiance to add touches of mint to house floral arrangements with dusty miller, hydrangeas, golden zinnias, succulents, silver brunia, and craspedia.  A torn fabric banner was strung across the wall to add some texture and interest.

The couple had a cool modern guest book made with images they had collected over the years.  We hired a local illustrator, Razi Bhatti, to make a map illustrating how the couple met.  Serafina was from Alaska, and Cameron was from Oregon and they came together to meet in Seattle.

Razi also illustrated a custom cupcake topper for the couple and even included their dog!  We made a scallop paper and ribbon accent to dress up a plain white cupcake tower.  Vintage vases with succulents and terrariums with a mix of succulents were placed in clusters on tables.

Little canning jars were filled with succulents as favors for guests.  It was important to the couple that things be as sustainable as possible so as the plants get bigger the jar can be reused.
We had a lot of fun creating the bride's bouquet. We used large mint green succulents that looked like giant blooms that we wired maintaining the roots so they could be safely replanted after the wedding.  Bright cheerful zinnias brought in some vintage summer charm and we mixed in some silver brunia, and craspedia to give it more texture.
The couple's shoes were amazing!  Her Camper sandals were golden yellow with mint green heels.  She even painted her toes a soft minty green.  Cameron's shoes were Cole Hann grey suede wingtips with an amazing yellow sole.  So daring and stylish for a groom!
The bridesmaid's bouquets were a little softer with hydrangea, freesia, zinnias, silver brunia, and craspedia.  We love this mix of texture and color.
On the dinner tables we created terrariums with several different varieties of succulents placed in clusters.  Cocktail tables had mini terrariums inside vintage Ball canning jars.
Pom tissue paper puffs mimicked the shape of the flowers and succulents and brought in the color scheme beautifully.  Clusters of the puffs hung from the ceiling to give the room more warmth.  We also made a large backdrop for the ceremony using a variety of satin ribbons in shades of silver, grey, aqua, mint and yellow.
Serafina commissioned local designer, Lekkerlife, to make her custom wedding dress.  It was a soft grey silver dress with a cute 50's style peplum with fitted pencil skirt.  We made a cute hair pouf for her out of silk organza, finished off with some vintage birdcage netting. Cameron wore a deep grey suit.
He brought in more color with his fun striped tie.  We made him a boutonniere using another live succulent that could be planted later with a minty dusty miller leaf and some craspedia.

The couple chose sustainable bamboo plates and silverware that could be composted.  We loved their idea to use skate decks as platters for the meat and cheese table!

This wedding was so much fun to be a part of.  We love using sustainable ideas in weddings so this was a fun challenge and we hope to use more earth conscious ideas on future projects.  We also loved working at 1927 Events (a newish venue in Belltown.)  The space was so easy to work in with exposed brick walls and gorgeous wood beams.  We love using vintage inspiration for weddings but then having little modern twists that keep it feeling fresh and young.  Once we get some more pictures we may add some more from this great day as these were just images we took along the way!
