Ice Garden Wedding Table

Carrie Middlemiss commissioned us to style this silver and white wedding party table setting to submit for a magazine editorial.  A gilded silver mirror served as a sparkly backdrop for our silver and crystal covered tabletop.  We chose a clean, modern Scandinavian style for the table and softened the look with some feminine cut crystal accents.  We loaded the table with lit candles to balance the coolness of the icy silver and glass.

A silver charger is topped with simple white china and layered with a decorative floral etched glass salad plate.  We collected an assortment of vintage silver, crystal, and mercury glass candle holders in different shapes and heights and scattered them between the flowers and dessert centerpiece.  Keeping with our Scandinavian theme, we chose a repetitive modern shape for the champagne flutes, water glasses, and vases.

We built a centerpiece of desserts using layered Clara French cake stands.  Our photograph of beautiful lace inspired the lacy fondant covered cake baked by Tallant House.  We chose a variety of Trophy Cupcakes in shades of white.
It's hard to pick which little white cupcake would be the perfect ending to a lovely evening.

Proposal Over Wine

Carrie Middlemiss from Bella Cupcake Couture asked us to style this Paris cafe proposal scene for a magazine pitch.  We visualized a night time setting for a romantic propsal over wine and dessert.  The Art Nouveau movement was an inspiration so we chose elegant black and white prints and paired them with deep ruby red.  Carrie had asked graphic designer, Astrid Mueller, to create a proposal card which we incorporated into the narrative of the shoot.  Emici Bridal provided the silk flower brooch which we pinned to the napkin to create a surprising way to present the engagement ring.
Miki of Clara French Ceramique created a fantastic tiered cake stand which we filled with cream puffs, eclairs, and beautiful berry tarts baked by Tallant House.  Trophy Cupcake baked up an assortment of pink frosted lemon raspberry and vanilla cream cupcakes which we set into black and white wrappers made by Bella Cupcake Couture.  We created a napkin band and floral wine glass coaster from a similar paper.

Other than actually being in Paris for our surprise proposal, I can't think of a sweeter scene.

Vintage Tea Party Bridal Shower

Looking for a fresh bridal shower theme?  How about throwing a vintage style tea party? We recently styled this shoot to showcase several local Seattle vendors including Tallant House Bakery, Trophy Cupcakes, and Bella Cupcake Couture Wrappers. We chose a lush cheery color palate of spring green, pink and pale yellow and accented it with all the soft vintage floral motifs found on the tea cups and pots.  We stiched up throw pillows, a rose table runner and cloth napkins to bring our custom touch to the table design.
The delectable entremet chocolate cake is sitting atop a Clara French scalloped pedestal ready to be served on her matching darling dessert plates.
We nestled the vintage tea pots  in between towers of Trophy cupcakes and french macaroons by Tallant House.
Our handmade pillows spruced up a vintage couch and matched the gorgeous macaroons perfectly.
Each setting was dressed with its own one of a kind vintage tea cup, springy green dessert plate by Clara French a top a cream and gold vintage plate.  We hand made dessert napkins and wrapped them in silk ribbon and found the perfect gold dessert flatware to match the gold etching on the cups and teapots.

We love this little vignette with the matching tea set and luscious pink petaled Trophy cupcake. (Thank you card designed by Astrid Mueller. ) The paper doily place mat was laser cut for us by Amy Bengtson.  The next image shows the vast array of scrumptious Trophy flavors to pick from perfect for a shower setting as each guest can select her favorite flavors.  They look so pretty on the Clara French pink tiered dessert stand.  Each cupcake is dressed up in a custom decorative paper wrapper to match the color scheme.  This is a perfect theme for a intimate girly shower to celebrate with close friends and family.

Pretty looks for Spring

Last week we braved the chilly weather and took our favorite models outside for a photo shoot to feature fresh bridal looks for spring.  We asked Tiffany Lowry at Red X to style up Sara and Alex so that we could showcase new hair accessories by Violet Magpie.

For this look we wanted to cast Sara in a soft glowing light with a peach lip and shimmering golden eye shadow.  Tiffany emphasized the eye with false lashes and just enough eye liner to give more definition and focus.

For hair, a side swept bang and simple updo worked well with Violet Magpie's soft creamy peach and pink layered feather  flower hairpiece.  We stitched up layered silk rosettes with brown and peach spotted feathers to embellish a silk strapless dress.  The darling vintage necklace made of peach enameled flowers with rhinestone centers add just enough sparkle without overwhelming the ensemble.

In this second look, Sara is wearing an ornate rhinestone hair clip with a sweeping mix of white and golden brown feathers.  The silk crepe halter dress is accented with belt made of vintage floral fabric and finished with a mother of pearl buckle.
.

For Alex's make-up, we asked Tiffany to use a rosey luminescent palate.  Cherry blossom pink inspired the lip color.  To add a little drama to the otherwise soft and girlish face, Alex's eyes were made up in bold Mod era cat-eye.  Alex's messy side bun is balanced with the elegant white feather hairpiece embellished with rhinestones and beading for extra shimmer.  The classic laurel leaf shape of the vintage necklace mirrors the shape of the feather hairpiece, as well as the shape in the white, gold and rhinestone vintage earrings.  This glamorous vintage style compliments the simplicity of the classic white dress.

We adore this over sized sheer silk rose hair clip with rhinestone center and wispy white feathers.

The rose hair clip was the perfect accompaniment to the cream silk satin dress embellished with tiny velvet flowers.  We love this dreamy romantic look and envision a wedding at a 19th century mansion, living out our Jane Eyre fantasies.

Winter turning into Spring

Here is our first post.  We want to show you how Crinoline & Tweed will take an idea of inspiration from the initial invitation design through to the couple's last dance.

This is the first wedding we styled.  We loved the way the tones of purples, browns, and grays worked together.  When we think of spring flowers, the first things that pop into our heads are bulb flowers poking out from the still wintry earth.  We mixed these purple blooms with gray and brown pussy willows.  For the ceremony, we created an altar out of birch branches draped with tiny hanging candles.  Above this, we hung large lanterns that we fabricated from colored string in tones of brown and purple. On the back wall of the altar, a table filled with candles illuminated the space.  The aisle was lined with large pussy willow branches and over sized tissue paper flowers.  In place of a traditional guest book, we created a wishing tree filled with hand-cut paper leaves with spaces for guests to write their messages to the bride and groom.  Nestled throughout the room were potted magnolia trees and large birch trees draped with glass crystals and decorated with feather nests, tiny white birds, and anchored in a base sprouting crocus and tulips.

The bride wore a gray silk chiffon dress with purple suede peep-toe shoes.  Bridesmaids each wore silk chiffon purple and brown dresses.  For the bridal party, we fabricated hair pieces out of brown and purple feathers.  Custom designed jewelry was created from iolite, smokey quartz, sterling silver and other stones reflecting the color scheme.  Bridesmaid bouquets were a collection of feathers, tulips, ranunculus, anemones, and hellebore.  The groom wore a gray suit and purple shirt with a custom made gray silk tie that matched the silk from the sash of the bride's dress.  Groomsman ties were custom made in shades of deep purple.  Boutonnieres were comprised of fern heads, feathers, birch cones and grey velvety leaves.

Invitations for this wedding were pearly gray iridescent paper laser cut with woodland animals and pussy willows over wood veneer backing .  For place cards, we chose wood grain embossed paper and took one of the elements from the invitation, the tree stump, and had it laser cut with two little love birds.  Table tops were covered with white linen scattered with vintage white and cream vases filled with tulips, crocus, and ranunculus.  We created a favor of tiny woven birds nests filled with speckled chocolate eggs tied with ribbon bearing the couple's names.  Place settings featured charming mismatched vintage silverware, reflecting the beauty of found objects.  Cakes were served family style, with four delicious choices for each table, Red Velvet, Chocolate, Lemon, and Buttermilk with buttercream icing--making it fun for guests to chat as they sliced up the cakes together. The couple's cake was topped with a wood handmade topper that was made by an artist who painted the figures to look like the bride and groom.  For the toasts, we created a custom cocktail of violet liquor and champagne, continuing the color theme throughout the entire evening.
